She welcomes all Law Enforcement agencies, victim advocates (paid and volunteer), non-profit agencies that work with victims, District Attorney offices, and the Division of Youth Corrections facilities. This free training is available for anyone that works with victims, whether adults or juveniles. The following items will be discussed at the training:

VINELink: (

A public website that allows users:

    • Look-up adult offenders currently active in the VINE system
    • Register to receive notification when there is a change in the offender status
    • Can choose to be notified by a phone call, text message or email
    • User had option to change phone number or pin number, and can delete their registration
    • Local resource numbers available for victims

VINEWatch: (

A secure, administrative website (user name and password required) that allows users:

    • Look-up offenders currently active in the VINE system/Adults & Juveniles
    • Register victims for notification for Adults and Juveniles
    • Confirm notifications were sent to registrant
    • Stop pending notifications
    • Look up PIN numbers for a victim
    • Ability to have notifications go out if system goes down
    • Run multiple reports/statistics on usage of VINE for your county

Colorado Victim Assistance Academy (CVAA): 4/30-5/4 in Colorado Springs
Deadline to apply is Friday, February 2, 2018 by 4pm
Applications are now being accepted for COVA's annual Academy, which will be held at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs. The CVAA is designed for professionals with less than two years’ experience in the field, or who have had little training. The training is appropriate for individuals working in law enforcement, prosecutor’s offices, probation, corrections, and community based agencies (e.g., a domestic violence or sex assault victim services non-profit) working with crime victims. Click here for more information and to apply.

Train-the-Trainer Institutes: 4/23-26 or 5/14-17 in Denver
Deadline to apply is Friday, March 2, 2018 by 4pm
COVA will host two 4-day institutes to train professionals in victim services to enhance their presentation and facilitation skills. This training will cover topics in adult learning, presentation skills, understanding facilitation and gaining facilitation skills, presenting and facilitating with cultural humility, and facilitating online training. Click here for more information and to apply.

Long-term Housing w/Survivors: Successes, Challenges, Tips: 2/6, 12:30-2pm
Advocates working on the Housing for Crime Victims Special Project will share lessons they have learned, successes they have experienced, and challenges they have faced in assisting survivors with long-term housing options. VINELink Awareness & Education–Search & Register Training: 3/13, 12:30-2pm
The Victim Information & Notification Everyday (VINE) service has gone through exciting enhancements in 2017! These enhancements include changes to VINELink, the public web service for VINE. VINELink can be a valuable tool, used to register victims of crime for notifications of changes in offender custody status. Click for more info and to register.

Colorado Victim Rights Amendment & Emergency Fund Training: 2/22,1-3pm
This training will provide an overview of the Colorado Victim Rights Amendment (VRA), including history, crimes covered and the rights afforded to victims of those crimes. We will discuss who is responsible for upholding victim rights and the process for compliance should a victim feel their rights have been violated. We will also discuss how advocates can access COVA’s Emergency Fund on behalf of victims they are working with, including the application process, eligibility requirements, ineligible expenses, and examples. Colorado Crime Victims' Rights Caucus




COVA is proud to announce the 6th year of the Colorado Crime Victims' Rights Caucus. This caucus hopes to serve as the General Assembly's subject matter experts to ensure that the rights of crime victims are appropriately considered in the policy making process.
